Sara joined Hawkwood in July 2017 as Operations Manager. Her role is managing the house-keeping, kitchen and maintenance departments and ensuring Hawkwood runs smoothly.
Sian is returning from maternity leave in October 2017 to take up the role of Alicia Carey’s PA.
John is head chef at Hawkwood and he joined the kitchen team in May 2009.
Alicia is CEO of Hawkwood, responsible for the vision and strategic direction as well as its general overall management.
Julia is Hawkwood’s Business Manager and is responsible for seeking and administering all conference business.
Michael shares his food passion with us, as chef on a part-time basis, since 2015.
Melinda de Smidt
Melinda joined us in October 2017 as a Duty Manager, but has since expanded into a multi dimensional role, including office cover, PA work, housekeeping and kitchen support.
Jan began in 2004 in Housekeeping team and continues to keep Hawkwood beautiful for all who come.
Tom joined Hawkwood in September 2017 as a Duty Manager, welcoming guests and caring for their safety and wellbeing out of office hours.
Cathy joined Hawkwood in October 2016 as Office Manager and manages bookings and accommodation as well as running reception and welcoming guests.
Alex joined Hawkwood in December 2017 as Office Manager cover and manages bookings and accommodation as well as running reception and welcoming guests.
Bernard, the Head Gardener, is the longest standing employee currently at Hawkwood, having joined in 1992. He works three days a week and runs the grounds along biodynamic principles.
Carly has been at Hawkwood since June 2007 as a Domestic Assistant working in Housekeeping.
Katie is Programme and Communications Manager and leads in the planning of the course programme, along with its publicity. She also works alongside the volunteer garden team on Friday mornings. Katie began at Hawkwood in 2003.
Jane joined the kitchen over 15 years ago. She is most passionate about vegetarian and raw-food cooking and using produce from the walled garden.
As Finance Manager Rob oversees all the finances for Hawkwood. He joined the team in 2012.
Nick is Caretaker and Head of Maintenance at Hawkwood, taking on this role in 2011, having done part-time ground work since 2004.
Rhiannon is the Marketing Project Manager. She co-ordinated the creation of this website, produces the brochure and leaflets, flyers, posters and online marketing campaigns and organises and runs our annual May Day Festival. Rhiannon began at Hawkwood in August 2012.
Mandy is Hawkwood’s Housekeeper and manages a small housekeeping team. She has the responsibility for ensuring the house is both in order and welcoming for all our guests. Mandy began at Hawkwood in April 2017.
Supporting in the kitchen and with conferencing set ups, Jake has worked at Hawkwood since May 2015.
Lends support in maintenance, set-up and IT matters.
Ra joined Hawkwood in September 2016 as a kitchen assistant. He is now also a Duty Manager.
