Bookings
It is very easy to book for courses at Hawkwood. The information below outlines the different possibilities: online, by mail, phone or fax. We recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment.
Online Booking for Hawkwood Courses
Click on 'Booking Form' above. You will have two options: 1) an on-line form, which submits all information except payment details via internet. We will contact you then for obtaining deposit or fee payment and thus for confirmation. 2) Click for the 'off-line' version at the top. Complete the application form, select 'Print Booking Form' at the bottom, and send your application along with payment details. Please do not send cash by post.
Booking by Phone or Fax
You may also book by phone or fax if you are paying by credit or debit card. Tel: 01453 759034 Fax: 01453 764607
Whatever your method of booking, you will be sent a written confirmation, further details about the college and what you should bring, and a map with instructions on how to find us. (See the sidebar for online map.)
Deposits
There is a minimum, non-refundable, deposit of £25 for 1 day courses, £50 for 2+ days. You may book by phone, fax, or e-mail, paying the deposit or course fee by credit card. Alternately you may also pay by cheque if sending your booking form by post. Please give details as shown on the Booking Form. To ensure yourself a place on the course, we recommend that you not leave booking until the last minute! The balance of fees is due four weeks before course start (normally no reminders are sent). Fees are non-returnable if you cancel within this period.
Bursaries and concessions
Bursaries and concessions are available on many courses through The Eileen Nesfield-Cookson
Memorial Bursary Fund. We are often able to offer concession rates and bursaries to those who wish to take part in Hawkwood courses, whether music, art or crafts but find it difficult to do so without some financial assistance. Funds are limited, and we recommend that you contact us early. Applications, stating circumstances, should be made in writing. Contributions to the Fund are most welcome.
If you have to cancel ...
We recommend you take out your own insurance in case you have to cancel through illness or unforeseen circumstances. ‘Cancelsure' insurance forms are available from Hawkwood or Cancelsure (01666 841353).
If you have to cancel, let us know as soon as possible: cancellation charges are dependant on how far we know in advance of the course.
As a general rule, cancellation charges are as follows: If you cancel more than six months before a course, deposit and any fees paid are refundable. If 3 - 6 months before, the deposit is transferrable to another course, and we will be able to refund the balance of any course fee (after deposit). If 1 - 3 months before a course, the deposit is not transferrable, but the balance after deposit will be refunded. If you cancel less than one month before a course, the full course fee is due, and any unpaid balance will be billed. If you have already paid the full amount for the course, neither this nor the deposit is transferable if cancelation takes place less than one month before a course.
If we have to cancel
Hawkwood reserves the right to cancel a course for whatever reason, which may be owing to insufficient numbers, the availability of staff or tutors, or other reasons beyond our control. In this event, however, your course fee will be refunded in full. Every endeavour will be made to inform you of this at least one week prior to the course. Hawkwood can accept no further liability for course cancellations beyond the course fee refund.
Arrival and departure times
Unless otherwise stated, arrival time is between 4:00 and 6:00 pm on the first day of the course, with supper at 6:30 pm. For one day courses, arrival is generally 9-9:30 am, finish 5-5:30 pm. Longer courses usually finish by afternoon tea (4:00 p.m.) on the last day. Unusual start and finish times will be noted in the brochure and on the web-site.
Meals and dietary requirements
Hawkwood has a reputation for delicious meals as well as providing for other dietary requirements, such as food allergies (please let us know beforehand to ensure we are best able to meet your requests; it may not be possible to cater for them if we only know at the last minute!) Organically grown vegetables and meats are used where possible, and all food served is GMO free.
