Nobody writes for choirs quite like Eric Whitacre: by turns haunting and playful, his music lingers long in the heart and soul. With his trademark scrunches, sexy harmonies, and fabulous sense of texture in sound, Eric has become a worldwide phenomenon in the choral world. Enjoy a wonderful long-weekend exploring his music with renowned choral maestro Gavin Carr, whose humour and passion is fast becoming legendary. From the awesome depth of When David heard to the stunning beauty of i thank you god for most this amazing day, and exploring some lesser-known works as well, this is a weekend for all those who love the music of Eric Whitacre and revel in its harmonies and sensibility.

Gavin Carr is one of the most celebrated of established choral conductors in the UK. Working with many of the country’s leading symphony choruses and choirs, and in constant demand for vocal and choral workshops, the humour, verve and passion he brings to his work make his courses an unforgettable experience.

There will be an informal sing through concert on Sunday 19 August at 2.30pm. The concert is free but we are always very grateful for donations to our Hawkwood bursary fund!
