Introduction to Watercolour Painting Sat 29 Jun - Sun 30 Jun

  • Arts

This course is ideal for beginners or those whose painting has lapsed and need a refresher class.

Julia will guide you through the process of watercolour painting, including how to mix paints, the use of colour (how to avoid ‘muddy palettes’), composition and the various techniques she employs in her vibrant work.

What you will achieve

This course will help you develop not just the skills to paint but also the confidence to create. You will learn the basics of watercolour, and the joys of this very versatile medium.

Julia’s approach to teaching is very ‘hands on’. She encourages students to release their fears of painting, embrace something new and step out of their comfort zone whilst taking the time to work with each student individually. Her style is gentle and humorous.

Non-Residential £150 including lunch and refreshments both days. A materials list will be sent on booking.

Please note that prices are listed per person.

Registration 9.00am - 9.30am. Course runs 9.30am - 5.00pm each day.

Julia Cairns is a British artist, currently living in the U.S. She has been painting in watercolour since she was 12. Her work has been licensed on many products and she has illustrated 9 books for children

"I really loved every moment of the watercolour workshop. I do like that you give suggestions because sometimes as a new artist I'm just stuck, so I appreciate suggestions and direction."

"Julia has an encouraging and open way of teaching. She also clearly shows you her own techniques and approach. I really loved being inspired, as well as guided effectively toward a finished piece.’"
