Monday 10 - Thursday 13 July

Chamber orchestra playing combines the best of two musical worlds, and in these two delightful masterpieces we will explore the wonderful diversity of orchestral sounds with the special intimate quality of chamber music playing. Caroline Pether will be leading and taking string sectionals, and Laurence offers his excellent conducting. The course will end with an informal concert performance of both works.

Laurence Perkins is principal bassoonist in Manchester Camerata, and a solo artist for the Hyperion record label, with more than 40 years of chamber orchestra experience. His recordings include Mozart and Weber bassoon concertos, and the complete Beethoven symphonies.

Caroline Pether is leader of the Zelkova String Quartet, and co-leader of Manchester Camerata. Her solo performances have included the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Yan Pascal Tortelier in Manchester.
