Thinking Like a Composer - David Stoll

Thinking Like a Composer - David Stoll Wed 12 Jul - Thu 13 Jul

  • Arts

A new and different approach to creativity from a leading composer of music

A composer starts from silence and ends up with a piece of music.  The Wednesday workshop is designed to give you something of the composer’s experience in a fun and challenging way, working in small groups on listening, playing, and finally composing and performing a short new instrumental work.  Please note that no previous musical knowledge whatsoever is necessary for this workshop. Everyone is welcome - just bring your willingness to try out new ideas.

The course continues in the evening with a talk by the tutor discussing his own music, and playing some examples.  The following morning he will introduce and explain some of the music which is to be played in an afternoon concert.

David Stoll is a composer of music for the concert hall, the theatre, television and radio.   David gives lectures and master-classes, and occasionally designs projects in creativity for schools, higher education and the corporate sector.
