Journey of Transformation with Ravi Ravindra and Amit Biswas Fri 06 Sep - Sun 08 Sep

  • Spirituality

The one single lesson of all the scriptures and sacred writings tell us that unless searchers undergo a radical transformation of the whole of their being, they cannot come to the Truth or God or the Real.

In this weekend retreat we will explore the various steps and stages of transformation through dialogues and discussions from Hindu, Buddhist and Christian sacred literature and in the teachings of two modern sages, namely, Krishnamurti and Gurdjieff. The process will also involve mindfully watching films to strive towards personal growth and transformation by connecting on a mythological, psychological and spiritual level, reassessing our inner capacity and connecting with our deepest and wisest self.

We will be guided to access our inner wisdom by using our whole body, senses and mind, gaining new perspectives and insights that offer the potential of true inner freedom, gradually leading to more and more freedom from ‘ourself’.

"Increasingly one is able to hear the subtle whispers of a mysterious reality, subtler than the body and the mind, and willing to become an instrument of the Cosmic Intelligence pervading the vast universe." Ravi Ravindra

Ravi Ravindra PhD was born in India and partly educated there before moving to Canada. He is a Professor Emeritus at Dalhousie University in Halifax where he taught courses in Physics, Philosophy and Religion. He is a spiritual visionary, scholar and international speaker. He has studied Krishnamurti, Gurdjieff, Yoga, Zen and the mystical teachings of Indian and Christian traditions in depth.

Amit Biswas is a senior Consultant Child & Adolescent Neuropsychiatrist, writer, multi-award-winning film-director (bridgethefilm.com) and an educator. He was a Senior Lecturer in the University of London and taught both Cambridge and Oxford Universities. Amit lectures globally to raise awareness on mental health and well being and his special area of interest is Mindfulness and Mindful Leadership. Amit incorporates interdisciplinary ideas combining ancient wisdom traditions with modern neuroscience and cutting-edge psychology. Amit lives in London, works in Oxford Health NHS Trust.

Ravi Ravindra will give a public talk at 8pm on Friday 6 September - this is included for weekend retreatants in Ravi's course.

Ravi Ravindra wears his extensive knowledge lightly and delivers it with gentle humour. He has studied with Krishnamurti, the school of Gurdjieff, and sages of Meditation and yoga, and written many deep but accessible books. His is a wisdom tempered with compassion, an intellect unvaunted by ego. He will quote (with verse numbers) from the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, the Koran and Kabbalah, without being pompous or patronising. Always calm and smiling, he's a perfect guide through the foothills and base camps of the spiritual kingdoms. Trust him.
