Starting with simple phrases and harmonies we will build up songs in different ways, working individually, in pairs and in small groups. If you have texts or poems you would like to compose into songs, then do bring them, and if you play an instrument then please bring it or just your voice as we will mainly create acapella songs.  Suitable for all levels of experience.

Please bring

a) a simple recording device ie a mobile phone that records

b) pen and paper for lyrics

c) if you are a person who uses musical notation then bring manuscript paper but we will mainly work just with our ears.

d) any poems or texts that you might like to create into songs

Tutor Information:

Helen Chadwick is a performance creator, singer and composer, and a one time Stroud resident, being a founder member of Dr Foster’s Traveling Theatre. She has written over 250 songs and was commissioned to create the song theatre performances for the Royal Opera House. Helen has led songwriting workshops with Sian Croose and Ali Burns. She has recorded 10 albums and composed for English Touring Opera, the BBC, Tete a Tete Opera Company, Salisbury Cathedral, Greenwich Festival and for many theatre companies including the National and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
