The Honey Bee - A Being of Warmth, Course no 243
Friday, 15 Jun 2012 - Sunday, 17 Jun 2012
A foundation for understanding and caring for bees in a way that respects their true nature
Honey bees are unique in the insect world in being able to regulate their own temperature. In this workshop we will explore this quality of warmth, what it means for a bee colony and how it guides the way biodynamic bee keepers manage their hives. Bees have been kept for pollination and honey for thousands of years and their presence among the flowers is a boon to every garden. Bee keepers love their bees and none more so than Michael Weiler who is coming to Hawkwood to share his insights both as a bee enthusiast and a lifelong bee keeper.
This workshop is for everyone with an interest in bees, their place in nature and in the human heart. There will be an opportunity to visit some hives and learn the principles of biodynamic bee keeping.
