The Nature of Sound, Course no 395

Saturday, 29 Sep 2012 - Saturday, 29 Sep 2012

The Nature of Sound

A free unhindered voice expresses human energy, health and being. It intimately connects us with our musicality and creativity.

We will explore two ideas - that of the sound-world of our natural environment - birdsong, wind, traffic, the natural sounds of human expression - and a feeling for sound's own nature, sound's own soul.

Through deep listening and playful exploration, embodied singing becomes a dialogue and dance of our being with its sense of connectedness in the world. We will open to the Seven Shining Tones of Indian music, develop The Way of Tuning and learn to trust in our own felt experience.

No experience is necessary and all are welcome.

"We can only sing in the present moment, much as we can only breathe in the present moment. As such singing can be a gateway into an experience of the present, and give a revelation of deeper identity through the voice."

Jonathan Nunn
