A wonderful opportunity to break free from the constraints of photo-realism and paint landscapes and seascapes in a more spontaneous style. Photos may be used as a reference but that doesn’t mean we have to copy them slavishly. You will be shown how to interpret a scene and decide what to leave in and what to take out. There will also be exercises on creating different moods and simplifying what you see along with tips on mixing bright, clean colours, wet-in-wet and colour glazes.
Students will be encouraged to produce several pieces of work during the course. Please bring along your favourite scenic/holiday photos.
