Finding the Language to Re-imagine our Future

Facilitator: Peter Moseley

In Association with Stroud Film Festival.

Premier screening of a wide-ranging documentary on climate emergency, including its historical and social context and interviews with leading activists including Polly Higgins, Jonathon Porritt and Caroline Lucas. Come to the first in-person screening and meet award-winning director Peter Moseley.

Event time: Thu 23rd Sep 2021 at 7:30pm - Thu 23rd Sep 2021 at 9:30pm

The film will look at how we need to use our imagination to create a positive, sustainable future to combat Climate Change and to cope with the upset of Solastalgia. Solastalgia, defined by Professor Glenn Albrecht is a form of mental or existential distress caused by environmental change. It is similar to nostalgia but the longing is for our “soil” not for the past.

Featuring interviews with Jonathon Porritt, Rob Hopkins, Scilla Elworthy, Polly Higgins, Satish Kumar, Charles Eisenstein, Caroline Lucas, Tim Smit, Bruce Parry, Fiona Reynolds & Kate Raworth.

We will examine the causes and possible solutions to Climate Change. Particularly the importance of local communities coming together, showing how in Stroud, grassroots groups have played a significant part in community engagement and support.

We will look at new economic thinking, energy solutions, waste management and the importance of well being for positive change.

The film is a tribute to Polly Higgins, an inspiration to many in the environmental movement and the Stroud community.
