This summer evening concert promises to be engaging and educational as Craig Ogden introduces each piece with an anecdote or knowledge about the composer, the instrumentation or the performance challenges presented by a particular piece.
The event will take place in the Hall at Hawkwood Centre for Future Thinking, Stroud. Please note that seats are unallocated. There will be a bar which will be open from 7:30pm. The concert will begin promptly at 8pm and finish at around 9pm
Craig displays scintillating dexterity of skill and emotional range, moving between Celtic melancholy, popular songs and South American sizzle. Some measured classical pieces are beautifully interpreted, having been adapted from the keyboard or other strings to great effect. Favourite composers include the “incomprehensible genius” J. S. Bach, Albeniz and John Williams. The quality of listening in the room was remarkable. You could hear a pin drop at the moment between Craig’s hands coming to rest and ours joining in the applause.
This concert takes place on the first evening of teaching on Craig’s course “Classical Guitar Masterclass“. An opportunity to study with one of the best classical guitarists of our generation. This enjoyable, intense weekend study course is suitable for experienced players and advanced students with a minimum skill level of Grade 6 guitar. There will be ensemble work as well as masterclass tutorials.
Tickets will be available at the door but we recommend booking online in advance as events can sell out.
Concession prices are offered in the spirit of inclusiveness and trust. If this is appropriate for your financial situation, you are welcome to book the event on this basis.
