Connecting through natural movement

Facilitator: Jemima Bennett

The Shape of the Day

After introductions, the day will start using exercises influenced by Skinner Release Techniques. These subtle movement approaches allow us to connect very gently with our bodies, both internally and externally. We will spend time exploring the relationship between different parts of the body and how they help each other to create a movement. We may find we discover a new vocabulary of movement as we move naturally, without music.

With Jemima’s encouraging guidance, we will extend this investigation into our surroundings, encountering the impact of nature on our movement.  We will allow the woodland of Hawkwood to inspire us and create a backdrop to the discovery of our own movement and authentic human connection to nature.

In addition to working on our own, we will do some pair and group work which will incorporate witnessing and sharing.

Jemima Bennett

She gained a Certificate in Dance Leadership from Morley College, London and worked with children with learning difficulties at primary school level.
