Into the Darkness
Facilitator: Jenni Horsfall & Mark Graham
Using experiential practices, ritual, and myth Jennifer and Mark will show how the principles of deep ecology underpin and inform our personal journey and how this relates to the seasonal cycle.
Understanding human consciousness as a component of the ecological process, we will seek to inspire a creative response to the energy of the coming winter. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the connection between nature, human nature, and the quest for authenticity and meaning in their lives.
Event time: Sat 31st Oct 2020 at 10:00am - Sat 31st Oct 2020 at 4:00pm
At a glance
- The principles of Deep Ecology and Eco-psychology – nature, human nature and the interconnectedness of life
- Personal and collective myths and the role of human consciousness in the ecological process
Participants will gain
- Explore the potential of ritual as a creative tool for personal and collective growth
- Deepen their connection and sense of belonging to the web of life
When we transcend the myth of separation and embrace our role within the ecological system, we enrich our human experience and contribute to a more sustainable future.
In this workshop, we will explore the symbiotic processes operating within the local environment. We will consider the living and non-living components of the ecosystem and the flow of energy between and within it. We will acknowledge the cyclic nature of the life, and the phase of withdrawal that manifests in autumn. Using a range of practices, including solo time in nature we will connect with the spirit of the season, freeing ourselves to move forward inspired and replenished.
Participants can attend one or more of the four workshops, each is self-contained and reflects the unique qualities of the season. Alternatively, participants may wish to see the four workshops as representing a journey they wish to undertake through the most significant turning points in the year.
