Radical Self-Responsibility

Facilitator: Karen Downes

Join us for this personal and professional development workshop designed to support those whose daily role it is to work for change and guide others in positive ways forward. When working in this capacity, we can often let ourselves become depleted without even realising.

If you recognise this, here is a perfect opportunity to ‘put your own oxygen mask on before helping others’. Hawkwood’s welcoming ambience and delicious food provide a nurturing setting for meeting yourself with honesty and self-care.

Event time: Mon 3rd Feb 2020 at 10:30am - Wed 5th Feb 2020 at 2:00pm

Global research reveals that over 50 per cent of workers are physically depleted, emotionally drained, mentally distracted and lacking in meaning and purpose. (-Towers Watson)

It doesn’t have to be this way…to truly flourish we must go beyond the basic essentials of health and wellbeing.

At a glance

  • Professional and personal development
  • Elevated awareness and consciousness for higher levels of effectiveness in every area of your life

What participants will gain

  • Practical skills and increased self-awareness to shift out-dated beliefs and behaviours
  • True resilience: shifting from the old style of resilience “toughing it out” to resilience that’s sourced from a foundation of wellbeing
  • Work with and develop the full complement of your inner human resources (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual). Uunderstand how to renew and expand these natural resources

The Flourish programme has been delivered to over 1,600 business leaders, and is based on systems theory, neuro-science practices from the contemplative traditions and empirical wisdom.

This workshop will enable participants to be more compassionate and respect both intuition and intellect. They will also learn to take greater responsibility for their impact on others and to create environments where the people they lead feel valued, respected and empowered.

The worries of an uncertain future, rising challenges and increasing demands can cause unnecessary suffering in a time when flourishing and thriving are not only possible, but essential to shape the inspired future.

Now more than ever, we need a paradigm shift in how we measure success and lead an inspired life. A shift in perspective as to what it takes to meet today’s business and personal challenges has become increasingly important.

These two days will be informative and experiential, to bring about real change in mindset and behaviour, both personally and professionally. We will learn to elevate and optimise the potential in ourselves and in others.

Karen Downes

Karen is a Social Entrepreneur, Business Consultant, Change-agent and Author. As a pioneer in the alternative health care sector, business consultant and leadership development coach Karen has been working for over 30 years at changing outdated business models and ways of working that do not serve people or planet. Starting out in the 80’s Karen built a start-up enterprise from kitchen table-top into a multi-million-dollar enterprise exporting alternative health care products and training programmes to 5 countries. She was a pioneer in the industry, writing 6 books and introducing aromatherapy into mainstream pharmacies and hospitals in Australia. Today Karen’s 80’s style of leadership in which she built her business would be known today as ‘conscious’ leadership. For years she worked as an activist with women in the villages of India and Bangladesh to end the subjugation and marginalisation of women. When she moved to London in 2002, Karen transitioned into coaching and leading development programmes for executive teams in FTSE 100 companies in some of the toughest industries. She knows that the way we are working is not working and aims to transform this at the personal and leadership levels.

“The Flourish team have put together a highly distilled package of tools and insights that are both wise and practical. The programme enabled me to pinpoint with laser accuracy exactly where I needed to focus my efforts to build my resilience.

I am now far clearer about my priorities and have taken charge of how I spend my time, rather than spreading myself too thinly. I expect to be reaping the rewards of the 2 days spent in this programme for many years to come.”

— Liz Rivers, Leadership coach, Mediator, Co- founder Purpose Power Presence

"It has caused me to reflect on who I am as a leader and how my leadership impacts those who I lead in a positive way. It was truly life changing."
