At this point of midsummer and the longest day, take time for yourself to both nourish and restore your energies. This weekend retreat will offer nature-based meditations, free time to explore and rest, a gentle ‘flow and restore’ yoga practice for the mornings and deeply restful restorative/yin based practices for the afternoon. With optional early morning meditations in the woodland sanctuary to a closing summer solstice based ceremony on the Sunday afternoon, this retreat promises to boost your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. All are welcome.

This time of year is as a time for renewal and abundance, as summer blooms in full glory. Therefore, on this yoga retreat we invite you to rest and restore your energies, to connect with the light inside of you as well as the longer days outside.

Itinerary

With gentle Flow and Restore yoga to open up your body in the mornings and afternoon Restorative / Yin style practices to release long-held patterns of tension and create more space for breath. It is proven that it supports our mental and emotional health, and improves our physical wellbeing. Experiencing yoga nidra, a deeply healing and restful form of yoga to decrease feelings of anxiety and depression, support chronic pain and insomnia, and resolve trauma.

As well as twice daily yoga sessions, we will also explore nature-based activities, including using journaling to connect with the landscape around you.  Optional early morning meditations in Hawkwood’s beautiful woodland sanctuary. On Sunday we will have a special nature-inspired session devoted to the summer solstice, which takes place on the 21st June. This will involve optional barefoot walking on grass, lighting of candles, yoga nidra and ‘planting the seeds’ of our intentions as we  prepare to move forward.

There will also be plenty of free time for you to drop out of ‘doing’ mode, and to read, sleep, explore or whatever else you feel. This is truly a retreat to nourish your mind, body and soul, and all are welcome.

Practical Information

Please bring a blanket and a small pillow for cushion for your head. You may also like to bring a yoga mat if you have one (mats will be provided, but in this type of yoga it can be more comfortable to have two). If you have extra yoga equipment, such as blocks and bolsters etc, please bring this with you (make sure it is clearly labelled). Wear warm, comfy clothes that you can move freely in, including warm socks. You may also like to bring walking boots and extra layers for the early morning walk.

Arrival and registration will start at 4 pm and there will be an introductory session at 5 pm on Friday. The retreat ends after lunch on Sunday.

Please note that prices are listed per person.

Residential options are fully inclusive with all meals provided. Non-residential options include suppers, lunches and all refreshments and exclude B&B.

Mel Skinner

Mel became a qualified yoga teacher in 2014, and since then has spent time undertaking intensive study with a number of skilled and inspirational teachers in the UK and India, as well as exploring her own home practice. Mel has specialised her training in restorative yoga, yoga nidra and yoga for women’s wellbeing and teaches classes, workshops, retreats and one-to-one sessions with an emphasis on healing, connection and relaxation.
