The focus of this weekend is to retreat, which involves taking time out of our busy lives to reconnect with ourselves and to journey into the natural tranquility of the mind.

During the weekend course, Sam will guide deep meditations focusing on relaxation, breathing and mindfulness, as well as letting go of distractions and internal constraints.

There will be instruction and guidance on the fundamentals of mindfulness and meditation, including how to establish and develop a meditation practice and how to incorporate this experience into our daily lives.

Mindful movement practice in the form of Qi Gong, an elementary form of tai chi working with internal energy flow and focus, will also be included.

Ample opportunities will emerge over the weekend to discuss practically with others and receive personal feedback and advice. And even more importantly, plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Hawkwood.

Practical Information

Loose clothing preferable. We sit in chairs for the sessions in this course – if you wish to sit on the floor, please bring mat/cushions as desired.

Sam May

Sam May, BA, BSc, LicAc, MFHT, has been teaching meditation in both clinical and traditional settings for 25 years. He is also a registered acupuncturist, and a health consultant for complementary and alternative medicine. Sam is the author of '15-Minute Meditation for Health & Wellbeing'. He currently practices in Bristol.
