Facilitator: Christina Sadler
The act of making art is therapeutic, it can quiet the mind and allow you to focus on the present. When this happens and you are truly immersed in the moment of creating you can relax and allow the flow and freedom of painting to begin.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities even those who have not picked up a paintbrush before. We will use the beautiful surroundings of Hawkwood to inspire us and have an enjoyable day of painting abstracts
Event time: Sat 14th Sep 2024 at 9:30am - Sat 14th Sep 2024 at 4:00pm
This workshop will introduce you to different ways of creating abstract art in response to your surroundings. We will explore the outdoors and beautiful grounds of Hawkwood but also use the sounds, smells and textures as inspiration. This will all be achieved through guided exercises and support from your tutor Christina.
No judgement will be placed on the outcome of your work. This day is centred on the enjoyment and relaxation that comes from creating
abstracts. There will be laughing as well as moments of calm and reflection. An enjoyable day creating whilst giving you the chance to unwind. Plus, lunch and afternoon tea are included—a real treat to unwind and forget your worries.
We will use a mixture of materials but acrylic paints and inks will be the main medium being used. You’ll learn various skills and techniques to continue painting abstracts at home. But above all, it’s a day to escape and take some time out for yourself.
As we will be venturing outside at some points please come with relevant clothing and footwear and something to sit on – even if it’s just a bag.

Christina is an artist based in Gloucestershire. She has a first class degree in Fine Art and is represented by Wychwood Art Gallery.
Her art is inspired by nature. She allows paint to flow and drip, then repairs and rebuilds areas by removing and altering layers. This makes her feel restful and calm, which reflects into her art.
A full time artist she also works with the NHS and partners on projects that improve mental health including developing art to improve interior environments and outreach sessions with adults and young people.
