Whatever your ability, you are most welcome to Ruth White’s 2 day Yoga Retreat. Ruth’s teaching is inspirational, both spiritually and physically.

Originally trained and certificated by B.K.S. Iyengar, today Ruth adapts her Karuna teaching to the ever-changing needs of the student. She has developed a unique style of teaching that unites pupil and teacher, in an atmosphere of happiness & well-being. Ruth teaches with enthusiasm and a sense of fun and brings the same warmth and clarity to her talks and demonstrations. She is well known for her attention to detail and will help you see through your limitations. This in turn helps to achieve their full potential and experience a sense of freedom.

Ruth will be joined by Narain, formerly an Ishaya monk, who has been sharing his wisdom with us and internationally for over 20 years, will be joining us to share his inspiring and philosophical yoga talks. He has a gift of revealing, in his simple way, the truths of yoga. Narain is currently in Queensland and will hopefully be joining us in person, if not he will join via Zoom.

Ruth White

In her teens, Ruth White had chronic back problems and "happened to fall at the feet of a master". At that time B.K.S. Iyengar held classes in London homes, sometimes with as few as 12 students. He showed Ruth how to work free of the pain, and thus inspired she followed him to India and trained to become a teacher.

She began teaching and assessing Iyengar teachers, and ran the Surrey Iyengar Centre (London) for nearly 20 years. Her current centre is based in the Cotswolds (UK) which offers a 500-hour teacher training school, yoga residentials over the UK, Europe, Australia, Mexico and India, as well as weekly classes in the area.

Ruth is a dedicated student of philosophy and meditation, practising Advaita under the late Shankaracharya Saraswati for 12 years at the School of Economic Science in London. More recently she took vows in the Ishaya order, and after seven years was given the name Parasakti Ishaya by Maharishi Krishnananda Ishaya.

Ruth has developed a unique style of teaching, uniting pupil and teacher in an atmosphere of happiness and well-being. She teaches with enthusiasm and a sense of fun and brings the same warmth and clarity to her talks and demonstrations. Ruth is well known for her attention to detail and has the ability to enable people to see through their limitations and experience a sense of freedom.
