Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) presents its second annual Strings Residential. Come and enjoy specialist coaching from string players of the world-class orchestra as you explore popular string orchestra repertoire, build ensemble and musicianship skills, as well as delving into the world of quartets and quintets.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) presents its second annual Strings Residential. Come and enjoy specialist coaching from string players of the world-class orchestra as you explore popular string orchestra repertoire, build ensemble and musicianship skills, as well as delving into the world of quartets and quintets. Players are welcome to familiarise themselves with the pieces, but preparation is not required.

Practical Information

A minimum of Grade 6 ABRSM or equivalent is recommended. Music will be provided via PDF in advance, and hard copies of the repertoire will be provided. Please bring your own music stand. You are also welcome to bring your own repertoire to play informally at times throughout the course.

Arrival 12noon Wednesday 14 August; course begins with lunch at 1.00pm. The course ends with afternoon tea at 4.00pm on Friday 16 August, after a play-through concert.

Please note that prices are listed per person. Residential options are fully inclusive with all meals provided. Non-residential options include suppers, lunches and all refreshments and exclude B&B.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

This course is led by members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, which has been a cultural beacon, both nationally and internationally, since its foundation and marked its 125th Anniversary in 2018. Under the baton of Chief Conductor Kirill Karabits, the orchestra performs over 150 concerts a year, including at the BBC Proms.
