The Quest for Wonder

Caitlín & John Matthews cordially invite you to join them for their 40th Anniversary of teaching their open mystery school winter weekend at Hawkwood, with guest teacher, Ian Rees. Over the last 40 years they have explored many of the mythic, magical, and imaginal doorways of inner vision, continuing the tradition began here by our teacher, Gareth Knight who first raised the lantern of the inner light on Hawkwood’s sacred ground in the 1970s.

Throughout their lives, they have sought for the wonder which wakens the soul to quest through stories and myth. This leap year, they will explore some of those stories, charting the mythic voyages that deepen the soul over the primeval waters. Starting with the ancient Irish wonder-voyage tradition of the Immram, to the Blessed Islands of the West, and the mysterious voyage that King Arthur takes into the underworld of Annwfyn, to the mystic voyages of the Grail, they will weave the magic once more.

Coming together again as questers old and new, go once more in search of inspiration through ritual, meditation and deep conversation, gathering as the Companions of Hawkwood, in celebration and gratitude. There is so much to remember and to gather up, so many songs, poems and stories to be shared as we join together in a truly festive ceilidh. As deep winter calls us into the heart of solstice-time, prepare the way together!
