Friday evening we’ll start with a gentle stretch before a nourishing dinner. The next morning, we’ll begin with a short walk in silence to the woodland sanctuary, then practice a short meditation, before returning to the hall for breakfast. After this, we will open up the body with gentle stretches made suitable for all abilities. Following the morning tea break, we will enjoy a yoga nidra meditation, resulting in a deeply restful state of effortless meditation.
After enjoying lunch, you will have free time in which you can read, rest, walk or catch up on sleep. In the later afternoon, we will practice restorative yoga with yoga nidra. This type of yoga uses equipment to remove the need for muscular effort, therefore focusing on releasing tension in areas such as the hamstrings, lower back, psoas muscle and diaphragm. The ability to breathe freely and fully, above all, is essential to maintaining a healthy and balanced sense of wellbeing, and as a result, can help us cope with what life has to throw at us.
After this restorative practice, it will be time for dinner and evening free time. Sunday will take a similar format, concluding with a yoga nidra practice before lunch. After this, it will be time to depart, hopefully feeling more rested and rejuvenated as we head into 2020.
This retreat is suitable for all, even those brand new to yoga.
