Hawkwood is a stunning Grade II listed 19th Century country house, surrounded by 42 acres of sustainably managed woodland, farmland and gardens. Set in the heart of the Cotswolds, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house and grounds feature breathtaking views towards the River Severn and Wales.
It is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. We have hosted groups from The National Trust, The Soil Association, NHS and Trinity Music Exams. Our guests praise our delicious catering, friendly staff and ethical management, all of which make Hawkwood a truly special and unique place to host a course, meeting or event.
We have implemented a Safety Protocol for Residential Guests and Day Delegates in order to welcome you to a secure venue following recommended government guidelines (COVID Risk Assessment). The health and wellbeing of our community is paramount.
As a charity we are continually fundraising in order to improve and upgrade our facilities. Thanks to recent grants we are now a third of the way through our project to renovate all of our accommodation. Soon our outdoor classroom will be ready as well, contact us for more details.
We encourage a warm and relaxing atmosphere at Hawkwood, created in part by our wonderful visitors and also by our fantastic staff, who go above and beyond to support you with hosting your event. If you have any special requests or requirements please get in contact and we will do our best to accommodate. Daniel is our highly experienced Venue Hire Manager, you can call him on 01453 759034.
For those needing easily accessible accommodation, we have a ground floor ensuite which can be reached on flat ground from the car park.
Hawkwood has a commitment to sustainability and a mindful, ethical approach and this is reflected in everything we do – from catering to waste management.
Conferences & Trainings
There are five meeting rooms of different sizes in the main house, plus two studios in the converted stables.
Grounds, Garden & Food
Guests are encouraged to wander around our Victorian half walled garden which provides our kitchen with fresh salad, fruit, vegetables and herbs, plus the 22 acres of surrounding farmland which are managed bio-dynamically by Stroud Community Agriculture. What we cannot grow ourselves we generally source locally and organically, and we try our very best to cater for any special dietary requirements our guests may have.
Accomodation
We offer 28 bedrooms sleeping up to 48 people, with plenty of single and shared twin rooms, and a ground floor guest accessible en-suite single bedroom ideal. Many rooms have charming historic features with views over the garden and valley beyond.
Woodland Sanctuary
Our Woodland Sanctuary is nestled among the trees. This small building was created to support quiet contemplation and silence in our busy world. It is kept warm throughout the year and anyone is welcome to make use of the space.
